Mother's Day

Today is a special day. It is my 3rd Mother's Day, a day to celebrate the blessing of being a mother to my most precious gift. It's hard to believe that just a few years ago, it was just Stephen and me. Leah has completely changed our lives and made each day fuller than the last. I can't believe that God has entrusted me with the amazing privilege of being mother to this wonderful child. I have often been complimented on my ability to handle all that we have been through with Leah in the last couple of years, and my answer to that is: the Grace of God, and the encouragement, love, and support of my two mothers, Nancy Howell and Jeanie Burgin.

My mom is my best friend. She is everything a best friend should be: lots of fun to be around, always positive, and a good listener. My mom is a constant comfort and one of my greatest sources of support. I'm so grateful God gave me to her.

My mother-in-law has never treated my like I was an "in-law", but has always made me feel like I was her true daughter. She has given me encouragement every step of the way that has helped me to be the mom that I am. I'm so glad God has placed me in her family.

I hope to one day be the kind of mother to Leah (and any other future children) that both of my mother's have been to me: to be friend and encourager. They are both women of virtue, the kind of woman I want to be.
"Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the way of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also, and he raises her, saying: 'Many daughters have done nobly, but you excel them all.'" Prov. 31: 25-29

To both of my mothers, I love you both and am so thankful for you and all that you do!

  2. Okay, now you've got me crying like a baby! What wonderful words of encouragement from my most precious daughter, who just happens to also be the most wonderful mother, too. I love you more than words can express. My cup runneth over.

    Love,
    Nana (Mama)
