Prayer for Leah

At our two month check-up for Leah last Friday, we brought up some concerns about Leah's eyes and vision. Leah's eyes move rapidly from left to right, and she has not met some of the visual developmental milestones that she should have met at this point. Our pediatrician shared those concerns and sent us to a pediatric ophthalmologist from UF. The ophthalmologist dilated Leah's pupils and did an exam. She found scarring on both of Leah's retinas that are impairing her vision. She was not sure of the cause of the scarring or the extent of the damage to Leah's vision. She sent us to get blood drawn to determine if some sort of infection has caused the scarring. She has also referred us to a retina specialist in Miami. Our appointment with him is July 6th. The concern is that I have a history of retinoblastoma in my family, a cancer of the eye. The scarring is not typical of retinoblastoma, but the ophthalmologist wants the retina specialist to rule out the potential of cancer. Before we have to go to the specialist Leah needs to have a CT scan done. She is having that done tomorrow morning. Our sweet little girl has already undergone, and will undergo more medical procedures than any baby should have to.

Please be in prayer with us for Leah.
  • Pray for Leah's comfort as she goes through these different procedures.
  • Pray that the retina specialist finds the cause of the scarring, and that it is not cancer.
  • Pray that the extent of Leah's vision impairment is minimal and will not effect her life too much.
  • Pray for Stephen and me as we go through this experience that we have no control over. Pray that we would trust God in this situation.
  • Praise God for a happy, content little girl.
