Burgin Update

I know it has been a LONG time since we last posted on the blog and while I am sorry that it has been that long, it has been a very busy couple of months for us, so you'll just have to forgive us. Just to update with what's going on with us:
  • Stephen has accepted a job at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and starts on July 25th (his birthday!). We are very excited about this new adventure and are super excited about exploring Norfolk.
  • Since finding out (1) that he has a job and (2) where we are going, we have kicked it into high gear with getting this house ready to sell. We just had my spring break and during that week (with the help of my most amazing and generous mother) we painted the exterior and most of the interior and had the roof replaced. Now, other than landscaping, we mostly have staging types of things to do before putting it on the market. The plan is to get it ready by the end of this month.
  • And, on top of all of this, we have just had Leah's staffing meeting in which we wrote the Individual Education Plan (IEP) that provides Leah with the services she needs to continue to develop. Once Leah turns 3 (in a little more than a week!), her services through the Early Intervention Program cease. Now Leah transitions into the school system, where she will receive all of those services. Each year we will update Leah's IEP with the services we think will be most necessary for the upcoming school year. So, as soon as Leah turns three she will start going to the pre-K ESE (exceptional student education) classroom at our neighborhood school. Leah is going to school! We were very encouraged by the meeting we had. The team we are working with seems to really "get" Leah and what she most needs. They didn't sugarcoat the severity of Leah's need, which we appreciate, and they seem very excited to get started working with her. The best part is this plan will follow Leah to Virginia. We will be all set up when we get there so that she can start getting services as soon as the school year begins.
Needless to say, a lot has been going on in our house lately!  Maybe things will settle down soon?!
