Neurology Visit
Well today we had an appointment with Pediatric Neurology. Rachael's parents were in town, so they came with Leah and me while Rachael was at work. The frustrating thing was that our appointment was at 8:00am, but we didn't see the doctor until 10:30am, because he was making rounds at the hospital. Sheesh! We have never had to wait like that before. We were referred to this doctor by our opthalmologist because of Leah's head shaking. What we heard today is that her head control or lack thereof is mainly due to low tone and a big head. As Leah's shunt continues to drain fluid, and as she grows stronger, the doctor seemed to think that her head would stop shaking. However, he still is going to to go back and look at all of Leah's scans and talk to Leah's doctors to see if he can diagnose any condition that hasn't already been diagnosed. Although he said this, we still don't know if he has a complete picture, because Leah hardly shook her head at all during his observations. Isn't that always how it is? You go to the vet because your dog is limping, but at the vet he walks normally. Anyhow, we may be having another appointment with Dr. Carney in the coming weeks so hopefully Leah will be acting like her typical self at our next appointment if we have one.
