Leah's Leaps

We've all heard the phrase "she's growing by leaps and bounds". Well, Leah has been making so much progress lately, and we wanted to share. So, I decided to start a new post series... Leah's Leaps (I have a great appreciation for alliteration). Leah's latest leaps (Did you like the triple L?!) are some big ones!

Leah has started pulling herself to standing up all the time - upright with her feet planted. We are seeing some cruising as well! She has even taken some steps while holding hands or with someone holding her at the hips. We are hoping for independent steps by her third birthday.

The other major leap has been in communication. Leah has just said her first words!! At daycare last week, she very clearly told Ms. Kim (her teacher), "No!" when Ms. Kim told her it was time to go inside. And today, while eating a snack, Stephen asked her to say more if she wanted more and she said, "More, More"! I can't verify the "no" at daycare, but she said "more, more" three different times to ask for more animal crackers, so I know that one is true! However, it wouldn't surprise us if Leah's first word was "no"!

The last few months have been especially hard for Stephen and me, thinking about Leah's future and not knowing what that holds. We have been very discouraged by the lack of progress she has been making. But, we have been persistent in prayer, asking God to motivate Leah and give us faith to trust that these things will happen. And now, our hope has been renewed and the future is looking brighter. God is good!

  4. This brings what I describe to my kids as "happy mommy tears" to my eyes. Thanks for sharing sweet Leah's progress, and for remaining such incredible examples of how God calls us to live. Faith is like nothing else, but to truly walk be faith is so often easier said than done. You're all three an inspiration!
