Great News!

We just got back from Leah's appointment with the neurosurgeon and he told us that while her ventricles are enlarged, it's not something he is too concerned with. He said her soft spots are nice and soft and her head circumference is normal, so there is nothing to really be concerned about right now. He told us that as long as the soft spots and head circumference stay normal we won't need to worry about anything - no worry of a shunt, no more MRIs, no more visits with neurosurgeons. We are so relieved to have this big concern out of the way. Now we can focus on finding out the source of her eye abnormalities and enjoying watching our baby grow and develop! One of her newest tricks is talking. Leah has decided in this last week that she has something to say and she spends the majority of her awake time telling us. She has a very sweet voice, too.

Now we are off for some family time, apart. Stephen is getting ready to head down to Bolivia on a mission trip with our church. If you want to keep up with his trip, check the mission trip blog. He will be there with the team for 10 days, and then will stay a few extra days with his family. I am so glad that Stephen will get some time for comfort and rest with his mom and dad. Having my mom with us at many of our doctors appointments has been so good for me. As for Leah and me, we are heading out with my mom to visit my family in Georgia, Tennessee, and Arkansas. We are going to see my sister, both of my brothers, and my grandmama and extended family. We will be gone almost the entire time Stephen is. We are leaving each other, but at least it is in great spirits!

  6. So happy to hear it. (And happy that Steven has this concern put to rest before he had to leave you two!) I'll pass the news along to the boys -- Calvin asked me this morning what the latest was. Love to you all.
