We have already gotten home from Leah's exam under anesthesia and it's not even 11:00. In fact, we left the hospital at 9:30! It was an early morning for us, but we are so thankful for how quick and efficient the whole process was. We are also thankful that Leah seems to have made it through the ordeal with only a couple of swollen, black eyes to show for it. Notice in the picture, the permanent marker R and L to mark her right and left eye. We are so glad that my mom was there to be with us, too. She is good moral support, and it's also nice to have another set of ears to try and hear and interpret what the doctors say. Leah's procedure lasted less than 15 minutes and after she woke up from the anesthesia (she was under anesthesia for a little more than 30 minutes), they immediately brought her to us, followed by Dr. Murray. We were again reassured that it is definitely not cancer, but that he still doesn't know what it is. He said that the extensive damage done to her eyes is most likely done and not progressing. He thinks that there was probably some sort of an infection or inflammation that occurred during her development that caused the damage to her eyes. He also said that he thinks the enlarged ventricles are related to her eyes and were caused by this mysterious infection/ inflammation / thing. He said that her eyes are a window to whatever has happened. He again talked about the possibility of glasses to correct vision or patch therapy to fix a lazy eye. So, the good news is that there is no more bad news. We still don't know what made this happen, but it sounds like it is done. The pediatric ophthalmologist in Gainesville also thought that it might be from some sort of an infection, so it sounds like they are starting to narrow it down. Dr. Murray said that we still need to go to the geneticist because he has not ruled out the possibility that it is something genetic. We will also still see the pediatric neurosurgeon to talk about Leah's ventricles. Thanks so much for all of your prayers. Keep them coming.

We love Leah Rose so much and I will not stop praying for her. I am believing God that her vision will be able to be corrected with glasses or other ways. She is so beautiful and has the best parents in the world. I bought her a beautiful new dress yesterday at the big market here. It is so cute. Her Daddy can bring it to her after he returns from Bolivia.
