Rachael, Leah and I are resting well this morning and are excited that it seems like we are going to get to go home today. Leah is in a lot of pain but the surgery was successful. She sounded pitiful all night long. She would give a sweet little baby moan with each and every breath she took. Hopefully her pain meds will relieve some of her aching.
We are so grateful for all of the facebook messages, phone calls, voicemails, and visitors that we have already had. We are so blessed to have so many caring friends and family members. It was great to be able to have Joe and my dad come up to spend the day at the hospital with us. Thanks to everyone who has been praying for Leah. We are looking forward to many more visits from you all as soon as we get home.
Here are some pictures that I took over the past few days chronicling our hospital stay and Leah's shunt surgery.

In the ER. We had one very tiny bed. There was just enough room for Leah and one of us.

Leah didn't seem to think that the ER bed was meant for sharing. She is such a bed-hog. Pink Bunny was a very important part of our hospital visit.
Leah's cage (I mean crib). She slept in this bed for the past two nights and was transferred to and from surgery in it. Rachael noticed other mother's sleeping in the cages with the babies. She never tried it, but it probably would have been more comfortable than our reclining chair bed things.
One last kiss before surgery. I don't know if pink bunny got a kiss also.

She looks great! Happy you all can head home this morning!
ReplyDeleteOh Stephen, Thanks so much for the pictures. She is lookin good! I slept in a crib just like that when he was in the hospital with Bronchialitis when he was about 18 months old. God is good!
ReplyDeleteLove you all,
Mom B.
We're glad to hear that things went well and pray that Leah heals well. We love you guys!

We are very glad to hear that things went well. Your joy despite the circumstances is evident in the pictures and the updates, and it's an encouragement and challenge! It's nice they didn't have to shave any of Leah's hair - it's so cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful the surgery went well and will be praying Leah's pain stops!
ReplyDeleteWhen Mary Grace was three months old, we had to go to the hospital for her first of many allergy related trips. We, too, had the cage/crib and I slept in it, and no, it is not very comfy. :o) We are so glad that everything has turned out so well! Praise God!!!
ReplyDeleteJoyfully,
Susan
I work with Jeanie in Bolivia and have been praying for you all through these trials... I am so happy to hear that the surgery went well. Leah is God's child and He is taking care of her! Praise God for His faithfulness!
