Home Visit from the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind Outreach Program

Today we had a home visit from a Parent Advisor with the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind Outreach Program. A person from the Early Learning Coalition went to Leah's daycare and was able to see that Leah had vision issues. She contacted us and told us about a program that would provide services for Leah. She put us into contact with the parent advisor and we just spent the afternoon with her, telling her about Leah, talking about the program, signing a bunch of paperwork, and receiving a lot of information! In the program, they will come to our house once a week to work with us and Leah to help her to develop her vision as much as possible, and to work on any areas of development that are delayed. They will evaluate her in all areas of development and keep track over the years. Once a month they will go to the daycare and work with them as well, to give them ideas for how to help Leah. And it's free!! We are amazed at the way that God has again orchestrated things to work out so effortlessly for us. I knew, as an early childhood educator, that there were services available for Leah, but I thought that I was going to have to seek them out myself. And I was not looking forward to the idea of having to figure out where to go and who to talk to, to make things happen. Instead, they found Leah, they called us, they came to our house, and all we have had to do was sign some papers! God is so good!

All of the brochures, booklets, papers, etc. that we got today. You can't tell, but the pink paper is actually a stack of papers that we had to sign!

  1. This is such wonderful news!!!And it is amazing how God has provided this to you, without you having to "hunt" for it!! God is so good!
I've begun researching websites to try and find ones that give me some ideas of educational toys we could get for Leah, but my web "surfing" hasn't been as fruitful as I would like for it to be so far...but I'll keep trying.
    We love you all!!!
